Our Elephant In The Room Men’s Grooming Lounge membership is designed to allow you to get your haircuts pre-booked at a discounted rate.
What is the difference between a straight razor shave and a beard trim?
For our beard trims we use clippers and trimmers, clean up the lines, and take off any length that you would like. Our straight razor shaves are more time intensive, they use a straight razor, and only certain Grooming Professionals are certified to perform the service, so they tend to book out in advance.
What is a straight razor service?
A straight razor service is a service we provide as an add-on for guys who love the luxury of our deluxe package! Our grooming professionals will use an old-school straight razor to line up the edges of your beard, clean up the back of your neck, and straighten up the lines of your hair.
Why is the haircut only $1, what is the catch?
We want everyone to have the Elephant In The Room Experience at least once before they decide if we are the right fit for them.
Do I have to sign a contract?
No, you do not. We just have a month-to-month agreement in place that people can cancel or sign up for any time. Because we are a membership based model, we are typically booked out 95% of the time and memberships are really the only way that we can guarantee to get people in.
What is the value of the membership?
Basically our membership allows men to use our facility more often and at a discounted rate.
How much will my haircut cost after the 1st $1 haircut?
You know that’s a great question, your first haircut is only $1. After that, each store gets to choose their own pricing because we are a franchise. But your first service is only $1.
Can I bring my child to my appointment with me?
We would love to have them. However, in order to provide the best experience possible and because some parents in the past have brought some pretty rowdy kids into the shop we don’t encourage it; however, if it’s something that cannot be avoided, we ask that children sit quietly in our nice and comfortable waiting areas.
I can’t make my appointment. Can another person take my place?
No problem at all. We’d be happy to reschedule you and get your buddy booked!
Why is it so hard to get scheduled for a Precision (or straight razor) Shave?
Most of our clients pre-book their Precision Shaves because we are almost always 100% booked out. Does that make sense?
Is it possible for me to book a same day appointment?
Absolutely!
Do we cut women’s hair or is it men only?
At Elephant in the Room, we provide services for men only.
How long will my appointment last?
Because we really pride ourselves on providing an experience and not just a haircut, the appointment length really varies depending upon the services provided. Our haircut packages typically take 30 minutes and any additional services would lengthen that time of course.

Our founders Clay Clark and Jonathan Barnett have been working together since 2007 and Clay Clark began laying the groundwork for Elephant In The Room Men’s Grooming Lounge in 2008.
What does the name Elephant in the Room mean and how did you come up with the name?
Our co-founder, Clay Clark came up with the name. He believed that an Elephant In The Room is something that everybody sees. As it relates to The Elephant In The Room Men’s Grooming Lounge, The Elephant In The Room stands for:

Yes! We do sell a wide variety of beard oils.
Does your 1st time precision headshave come with the 2 free add-ons?
Absolutely! The first time you receive our precision headshave, you do receive two free add-ons, the paraffin hand treatment and face scrub.
Why can’t everyone give shaves?
A precision shave is a specialty service that takes time and training to perfect,
so only trained Shaving Professionals are able to offer that service.
Do you offer gift cards?
Yes, we do offer gift cards. The great thing about Elephant in the Room gift cards is that you can purchase them at any of our locations and they can be used at any of our locations.
Do I have to be a member?
Absolutely not. Our memberships are designed to allow our clients to enjoy the men’s grooming lounge more often and at a discounted rate.
What essential oils are in the paraffin wax?
We use eucalyptus oil in the paraffin wax. The health benefits of eucalyptus oil are well-known and wide-ranging. Eucalyptus is an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and stimulating oil that is known for its aromatherapy benefits and other medicinal qualities.
What is a paraffin hand treatment?
That’s a really good question! A paraffin hand treatment is a warm wax that you dip your hands in. The treatment has essential oils in it, so it is great for soothing the joints, improving circulation, and moisturizing the skin.
What does peppermint oil do?
I’m so glad you asked! Peppermint oil is a hybrid mixture that gives a cooling sensation and has a calming effect on the body. It also has antimicrobial properties and can be used to relieve sore muscles when applied topically. Peppermint oil can also freshen bad breath and help with digestive issues. Peppermint oil is an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and stimulating oil that is known for its aromatherapy benefits and many other medicinal qualities.
What are essential oils?
Essential oils are highly concentrated versions of the oils that are naturally found in plants. Essential oils are well known for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which is why they have been used for thousands of years in various cultures for a myriad of emotional and physical wellness benefits.
At Elephant in the Room, we use essential oils in our paraffin hand dips and our scalp massages.
What is the customary tip?
The customary tip is 15-20% of the total ticket price and the average tip usually falls somewhere between six and eight dollars.
If I skip the shampoo can I get a beard trim instead?
Absolutely! You can definitely skip the shampoo and get a beard trim instead, no problem.
Can I just get a nape shave?
Absolutely! Nape shaves are free on Mondays for Elephant in the Room Members.
Will you ever offer back waxing?
At this time, we do not offer back waxing and it is not a service that we are planning to offer in the future. Thank you so much for your inquiry.
Would it be cheaper if I did not want a drink or shampoo?
The price for services remains the same because we are billing for services rendered and the beverage is complimentary.
